Family Planning with FIRST RESPONSE™ - Outside The Box

Family Planning with FIRST RESPONSE™

Family Planning with FIRST RESPONSE™

I can remember six years ago, right around the time we got married and started trying to start a family, like it was yesterday.  Making the decision to start a family is a huge one. I happened to be 37 years old when I finally decided I was ready to become a mom. I knew, at that age, getting pregnant was still very possible but that it may not be as easy as it would have been for me 10 years ago. So, I did my homework and read up on anything I could find that might help us along in the process of trying to conceive.

I didn’t know it was possible to be so in tune with your body. But I was. Once I began tracking things it became so much easier to figure out when my most fertile days were most likely and, with the added help of an ovulation test, we could be even more sure we were taking full advantage of those peek days.

We were very fortunate that we were able to conceive without any difficulties. I know that many are not that lucky. We know how lucky we are. Getting pregnant doesn’t come easy for every woman but there are some steps you can take that can help you on your journey:

Start with a pre-pregnancy trip to a trusted doctor.

This is an absolute must if you are thinking about starting a family. Don’t wait until you are months into trying to conceive to find and visit a doctor. As soon as you even start thinking about starting a family make yourself an appointment. A good doctor will be able to discuss the most important topics when it comes to conceiving, like menstrual cycle timing and regularity, parents’ medical history, exercise, eating habits and more.

Lead a healthy and happy lifestyle.

Simple changes like getting more sleep, and spending extra time with friends and family can do wonders for the body. Reducing stress is another important element as stress can cause irregular ovulation and can disrupt a woman’s menstrual cycle—affecting overall fertility. Keeping stress levels under control is also important for men when it comes to fertility too.

Understand your peak fertile days.

Get to know your body. If a woman knows her most fertile days, it can help speed up the pregnancy and planning process. The FIRST RESPONSE™ Digital Ovulation Predictor Test is over 99% accurate for detecting a woman’s personal luteinizing hormone (LH) surge, giving an easy and accurate way to determine the two days a month when each woman is most likely to ovulate. If intercourse happens within the 24-36 hour window, this will maximize her chances of getting pregnant.

July_Family Planning_First Response OTKBy helping to determine a woman’s unique peak fertility days, and understanding her body, FIRST RESPONSE™ can help speed up the pregnancy process. FIRST RESPONSE also has some really helpful resources to help you on your journey to conceive, like this ovulation calculator which is a really helpful tool to help you get started before you use the ovulation test. Whether you are just thinking about starting your family, or you are working on adding to yours, it’s great that we have so many tools and resources to help us out along the way.

  1. It's interesting that a lot of woman (trying to get pregnant) have no idea when their peak periods are. Like you, I was very in tune with my body but I also got pregnant at 37 so I had to be given that time was not on our side.

    Besos Sarah.
