Creamy (dairy free) Poppy Seed Dressing Recipe - Outside The Box

Creamy (dairy free) Poppy Seed Dressing Recipe

Creamy (dairy free) Poppy Seed Dressing Recipe

We love salads in our house. And when I talk about salads I don’t mean iceberg lettuce with shredded carrots. I’m talking about baby greens and spinach with fresh berries or fruit and crunchy nuts or seeds and usually some creamy goat cheese or feta. Our salads are healthy and packed full of nutrients. Sometimes they are almost a meal by themselves. I don’t buy a lot of salad dressings. I find them they are often full of sugar and artificial things that I just don’t want to pour over my beautiful salads. And the truth is a good dressing is pretty easy and inexpensive to make. I tend to lean towards vinaigrette type dressings because they don’t over power my salads. But every once in a while I do like something a little but creamier. A nice creamy poppy seed dressing is my favorite on a spinach salad.

This poppy seed dressing recipe takes only a couple of minutes to make. Most creamy poppy seed dressings call for dairy – milk, cream or yogurt and some use mayonnaise. I can’t even tell you the difference it makes replacing the dairy or mayo with Almond Breeze Almond Milk  – you really have to try it for yourself. The combination of the almond milk, the onion and orange juice in this dressing is unbelievable. So light, with a slightly tangy and slightly sweet flavour. It pairs so nicely with the spinach and strawberries in the salad I made (which also has slivered almonds and goat cheese).

I know that salads can get boring. But with a little creative thinking it’s really easy to elevate your salad to something amazing. We all know that green leafy veggies are good for us and when you can add in things like protein rich nuts, seeds and cheese and juicy fruit and berries all it takes is a great (and healthy) dressing to tie it all together. And if you enjoy a dairy, lactose and/or gluten free diet then making your favorite creamy dressing with Almond Breeze is the perfect way to go.

By the way if you are looking for Almond Breeze at your favorite grocery store there are now two places to look. Chances are you are use to seeing it along side other shelf stable dairy alternatives but now you can also find it next to other milk products in the refrigerator section as well.
