Some times it seems that the days go by so quickly that you blink and a year has passed. My little girl is going to be five this year. Five! I’m still struggling to wrap my head around that fact. In a few months I will be packing her up and sending her off to her first day of school. Where does all that time go? It’s in moments like this, those moments where I realize my baby is not a baby anymore, that I am more aware than ever of the need to savour this time. To embrace the wonderful and wonder filled time that is childhood.
It seems our children are growing up so fast these days. And, to be honest, I’m not sure if that’s true or if it’s just that my perspective has changed now that I am a parent. Either way, it’s going to happen. She’s going to grow up. So now, right now, is the time to let her enjoy being a child. No that doesn’t mean she gets free reign to do as she pleases. It doesn’t mean we don’t take time to learn. But it does mean we take as many opportunities as we can to play. And the wonderful thing about play is there are teaching moments. There are bonding moments. Play is such an important part of development in children. And, as a parent, the joy in watching, and taking part, in our children’s play is immense.
Fisher-Price knows the importance, and the joy, of play. And they want to celebrate that with you. Fisher-Price invited a group of moms to read a poem that they had never seen before, A Poem To Your Child. If you have a minute go grab a tissue (you’ll need it) and sit back and watch this absolutely heart warming video.
Wishing you all a wonderful and play filled day!
