What Motivates You?

Being fit and healthy is something that has always been important to me.  Staying active and eating right just make me feel better. And now that I am a parent it’s more important than ever! Now, it’s not just about me.  Not only do I want to make sure I’m able to keep up to my little one, but setting a good example for her is a huge motivator in my desire to keep healthy. I want her growing up understanding that being active and taking care of yourself is just what you do. That getting up and moving is just as much part of everyday life as brushing your teeth and eating dinner.

As much as I endeavour to keep active and stay healthy – the reality is “life” sometimes get in the way.  Between work, family commitments and everyday obligations it can be a challenge to fit in “active” time.  And I know I’m not alone.  But I am committed to making that time. I know the difference it makes in my life. That it makes me feel better on so many levels and that it is my responsibility as a parent to start my little one down a healthy path.

One of the best ways to achieve goals, not just fitness goals, is to write them down. Ask yourself just a few simple questions:

  • What do you want to achieve?
  • What do you need to do to get there?
  • What are the rewards of achieving your goals?
  • What are the consequences of not achieving those goals?

Write down the questions and your answers. Seeing things in writing can make is so much easier to put plans into action.  You can visualize them better and somehow writing them down tends to make us feel more accountable to following through.

  1. I have had some very serious health issues over the last few years so I want to be fit because I know it will help my body fight if those issues return.

  17. I am chronically ill and physically disabled as a result…always willing to try anything to improve my health.

  18. I have been trying to change my lifestyle over the past 18 months. I have started to eat clean and exercise when I can at home.  Being recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and then having ACL reconstruction/meniscus repair last month, I have to work that much harder to rehab properly and find an exercise routine that works for me and my schedule (single mom who work a FT and a PT job).   A personal trainer would be amazing to let me know that my eating habits are on par and to help design a personal workout plan. The membership is an added bonus as obey I right already! Thank you for this opportunity!!
