I saw these pillow loungers for sale on Zulily recently and thought well those look pretty easy to make at home. And they are. And they are such a fun addition to a kids room or play room. They are a perfect place to relax and read a book or even take a nap if you have a kid that will still do that!
You just need a few supplies and a sewing machine and you’re all set!
Easy DIY Pillow Lounger
- 6 pillow cases. I bought mine at Jysk. They had a big selection and they were very reasonably priced. Just make sure your pillow cases are all the same size! Mine were not – even though they were all the same brand! You might want to take them out of the package at the store if possible to make sure before you buy them. Otherwise you will have to do some extra cutting and sewing!
- 6 pillows
- Self stick velcro (optional)
You probably don’t need a whole lot of guidance here but I’ll give the basics.
Get your pillows cases handy. You can use all the same colour, all different colour. Whatever works for you!
Take two pillow cases and line up two of the long sides. Sew together leaving about a 1/4 inch seam allowance.
Repeat with the next pillow case until you have all six of them sewn together.
If you want you can now put a couple of pieces of velcro on the inside opening of each pillow case to hold the pillows in place. Alternatively, for a more decorative look, you can use scissors to cut a small slit through the pillow cases (two on each pillow case) and insert some pretty ribbon to keep the pillows in, just tie them up once they are stuffed.
Now you just need to stuff your pillows, seal the velcro or tie the ribbon and that’s it you’re done!
You can fold the lounger up and store in a closet when not in use if you’d like.
