Keeping Sun Safe with Banana Boat Simply Protect Kids Sunscreen

Sun Safety

Summer is here and my daughter could not be happier about that! No more school. No more packing lunches (ok that’s my yippee). And even though I don’t get my summers off from work I do take some holidays and stretch out the long weekends so we get lots of time to enjoy our precious summers. And we do try to make the most out of that time. And that means being outside a lot. You might find us cycling around the lake in the park or maybe paddling down the lake on our kayak. We also spend lots of time camping and all of the outdoor fun that comes with that. Lots of swimming and sand castle building or just a good old fashion water gun fight on those super hot days of summer.

My daughter has inherited a lot of things from me, one of those being my fair skin. And although everyone needs to think about sun protection, us fair skinned folks feel the consequences of not being careful in the sun right away. There is nothing worse than a sun burn. So my daughter gets the sun safety speech all the time! Put your hat on. Put your sun glasses on (protecting those eyes are important too!). Seek out shade if/when you can. Plan outside activities early or late in the day to avoid that sweltering mid day sun. And put on your sunscreen! When I was growing up we had sunscreen but it was not nearly as effective as it is today. The SPF was low, it didn’t stand up to water and sweat and it was horrible to apply. Things are so different now! Sunscreens today offer much better protection. They come in water resistant varieties and they aren’t the thick, greasy goop that I had to use when I was a kid. In fact some sunscreens today are so lightweight that you can just spray them on. I could never have imagined that when I was young!

Banana Boat Simply Protect Kids Sunscreen Lotion

Banana Boat® knows how important sun protection is for the whole family, especially for little ones, so we’ve created a new, minimal-ingredient formula that’s mild and gentle enough for even the most delicate skin.

The Simply Protect Kids Sunscreen Lotion  offers the same great protection you’ve come to expect from Banana Boat with less. Yes, less! It contains 25% fewer ingredients. Science is amazing isn’t it? They spent years creating sun protection products that work better and longer and now Banana Boat is able to remove some of those, things like oxybenzone and parabens, without sacrificing it’s effectiveness.

Features of Banana Boat Simply Protect Kids Sunscreen Lotion Spray:

  • Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB protection with 25% fewer ingredients*
  • Offers 50+ SPF
  • Made without oxybenzone
  • No added oils and fragrances
  • Tear-free, lightweight, easy to rub in
  • Water and sweat resistant formula (up to 80 minutes)

My daughter and I have had the opportunity to put this sunscreen to the test (yes I use it too) over the past couple of weeks. We’ve spent a lot of time outside, gardening, cycling and just having fun. And it has been sunny! So far we’ve had a burn free summer. The lotion goes on easily and feels nice and light weight, not heavy and greasy like some sunscreens. Molly’s had a couple of run through the sprinkler days and the Simply Protect Kids sunscreen held up well. They say the best sunscreen is the one you will wear and there is so much truth to that. So it makes sense to pick one that not only works but that doesn’t make you feel like you are wearing it and has managed to get rid of a few ingredients you may not have been crazy about using in the first place. Seems like the perfect fit to me!
