If you are anywhere close to my age there is a really good chance that you had a sticker collection as a kid. And I bet that a lot of those stickers were scratch ‘n sniff. Man do those bring back the memories. I have some really great memories of digging my sticker book out of my back pack on the school bus on the morning, along with my friends, admiring each others collections and making trades. It was a great way to pass the time on the long morning bus rides to school (I lived in the country). There are a lot of really positive things kid can get from collecting. It can teach them valuable lessons in patience as they build their collection, organizations skills, social skills and relationship building (since there is often a trading aspect to collecting) and it can also be a great way to teach youngsters the value of money as they save up to add that special piece to their collection. My almost six year old has a couple of collections she’s working on and she really loves it. And because her collections involve small toys there is also a lot of play involved which is a great bonus! Her newest collection definitely brings me back to my days of collecting scratch ‘n sniff stickers.
What the heck are Num Noms? That was the first question I asked when I first heard of them. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Let’s take it up a notch with a video. Follow along with Molly as she unboxes these super cute Mystery Packs Num Noms.
So you’ve got your Noms – which are sort of the base and then you have your Nums which are squishy, sweet smelling cupcakes and ice cream scoops (the Noms smells too).
The Mystery Packs that Molly unboxed contained lip gloss Noms. But to add even more fun to the collection some of the Noms are motorized. As you can see below these Noms have a little bow on top and when you push it the little ball on the bottom vibrates and they scoot along the floor or table.
You can play with the motorized Noms on any flat surface (and feel free to put a Num on) but for extra fun they also have their very own play area – the Num Noms Go Go Cafe. Join Molly again for a cute demonstration:
So much sweetness! And all of the Nums and Noms can be used together and stacked to make some awesome smelling combinations. Here we have Van Minty ice cream and Berry Berry Swirl cupcake topped with Orange Swirl cupcake. And it smells delicious! And if you are worried that may be too “smelly’ don’t be. I’m really sensitive to fragrance and these little guys don’t bother me at all. The scent is not over powering and it doesn’t rub off on your hands or anything else.
You can find Num Noms at Toys R Us, Showcase and Loblaws and they are available in the Mystery Pack which includes 1 lip gloss Nom and 1 Num, as well as a number of both starter and deluxe packs. Of course you can also get the Go Go Cafe and there are a couple of other playsets (the Lipgloss Truck and the Art Cart) coming soon! If you have a little collector in your house (or a little one on your birthday gift list) these adorable little guys are sure to be a hit!
