It’s #TreatsForToys Time & A Giveaway (CAN 12/07)

Make. Share. Give

In our home we try to make giving something that we do all year long. It’s an important lesson for our young daughter and it’s just part of our lives. It’s not surprising that our little one has a soft spot for other kids. We frequently donate to our local food bank and although she has always had some idea what that mean it really hit home for her just last week. We were at a local theatre production and at the end of the play one of the cast members came out and talked to us about the local foodbank. Obviously Molly knows what the foodbank is but the difference that day was he gave numbers. He told us how many people, and specifically how many children in our community rely on the foodbank to eat every day. Molly was shocked. She immediately asked if I could give her money to donate for all those hungry kids (the theatre was collecting).

Obviously helping to feed hungry children is important but we all know that kids need other things too. Things like toys. Toys are such an important part of a child’s development and helping to make sure children have a toy under tree during the holidays is pretty special. I’m very fortunate as a blogger to have a few extra toys kicking around every year to donate to kids that might not otherwise receive one. And the great news is that each and every one of you can help put a toy in the hands of a child this year too.

The Kellogg’s Rice Krispies #TreatsforToys program helps you help kids! It’s really easy and it’s really fun. All you need to do is whip up a batch of yummy Rice Krispies treats and make it into a fun toy shape. Once you’ve made your creation just share in on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the #TreatsForToys hashtag or upload it on treatsfortoys.ca. For every original image shared Kellogg’s Rice Krispies will donate $20 to The Salvation Army to buy a toy for a child in need during this festive season.

The Kellogg’s Rice Krispies #TreatsforToys program helps bring a smile to children in need by encouraging Canadians to make a toy-shaped Rice Krispies treat and share a picture of it on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook using the #TreatsforToys hashtag. For every image uploaded from now until December 21, 2015, Kellogg’s Rice Krispies will donate $20 to The Salvation Army to buy a toy for a child in need during the festive season. It’s that easy!

If you want some inspiration you can check out the templates or the other creations people have submitted on the treatsfortoys.ca website. Or search the hashtag on social media.
