There’s just something special about curling up on the couch with the family and watching a movie. And when it’s cold outside and you pop a big bow of popcorn and snuggle up to watch you favorite holiday movie – well that’s just extra special! The hardest part, of course, is always deciding on which movie to watch. I am not ashamed to admit my all time favorite holiday movie is A Christmas Story. This one played on a seemingly endless loop around the holidays when I was growing up and I have yet to tire of it. There’s just something about Ralphie and that dysfunctional family that I think most of us can relate to on some level. Another new favorite – new to me because I finally just watched it last year – is Elf.
Now that we have a little movie lover in the house I know that this holiday we are going to be watching more movies than ever before. Last year her favorite was the Grinch (the Jim Carrey version) and I’m excited to introduce her to some of my all time favorites as well as take in some new ones none of have seen yet. Now that we are part of the Staples Canada #StreamInto2015 team we have yet another reason to spend some family time together finding new family favorites.
How do you watch your favorite holiday movies? I remember back in the “old days” growing up we would scour the TV guide and attempt to set up the VHS to tape and hope to heck there was enough room on the tape for the entire movie or that you didn’t tape over another one of dad’s favorite movies! Wow how times have changed. My little one wouldn’t even have a clue what a VHS tape was. The next generation probably won’t even know what a DVD is. Technology just keeps changing at a pretty rapid pace.
We will be watching our holiday favorites this year through the Roku 3 streaming media player
Turn your television into a one-stop entertainment center by connecting the Roku 3 media player. Download your favorite streaming service directly to your Roku player and enjoy watching movies and TV shows in beautiful high definition. A remote control is included so that you can press play from the comfort of your couch.
I have to tell you this device is slick!
The Roku 3 is so small – which is a huge selling feature for me. We already have a DVD player, stereo system and PRV taking up all of the room in the media cabinet and this powerful little device literally fits in the palm of my hand so it was easy to find a space for. And another feature that I think is awesome is you can plug headphones (it even comes with a set) right into the remote control! I’ve toyed with the idea of buying wireless headphones in the past but with this feature it’s just not necessary. The Roku 3 has a ton of other features and you can read all about them on the Staples website.
I’m excited to tell you that Staples is generously giving TWO lucky Mommy Outside readers the chance to win their very own Roku3 media player to #StreamInto2015 too! To enter just fill out the Rafflecopter form below.
