It’s the most wonderful time of the year – or not?
Ok I know you might not want to hear it – or maybe you do – but it’s time to start thinking about back to school. Now I happen to have a four year old so we aren’t yet faced with this back to school business. However, even though our little one is not in school yet we actually do get to do a little back to school shopping. In a tradition that we adopted a couple of years ago we go out and purchases supplies for 4 or 5 kids of various ages and donate them to local kids in need. It’s actually a lot of fun and since we now have a Target store near by, it’s really not that expensive. My daughter loves helping sort through the supplies and stuff the backpacks with all the goodies. It’s just one of the things we do as a family to help her build a sense of giving and community.
Now I have to be honest – we are a year away from sending our little one off to kindergarten and already this has me filled with emotion! I cannot believe how quickly the time has gone by. How did my little baby become a preschooler so fast? A couple of weeks ago we took a little drive and we showed her what school she will be going to next fall. I may have gotten a little teary. Of course I didn’t let her see that and instead just answered the millions of questions she had and pretended to take notes as she planned what I need to pack her for lunch.
