Our Sensitive Child
My daughter is a “sensitive” child. She has allergies, asthma, anxiety and eczema. She also suffered with acid reflux just badly when she was a baby. I think she’s been on more medications in her three years than I have in my entire life. Luckily the reflux eventually cleared up. The asthma is now well managed and seems to be improving significantly and we have a handle on the allergies most of the time. That leaves the eczema.
We have used a variety of creams, lotions, etc to help relieve her red bumpy skin. Some of them help a little, some don’t help at all and some actually make it worse. It’s an expensive and frustrating game trying to find the right product to treat it.
SkinFix Gentle Eczema Balm
A few months ago I had the opportunity to test out an eczema product that we had not yet tried. The SkinFix Gentle Eczema Balm. I was happy to try it but I will admit that I didn’t get too excited. We’ve tried so many products with such mixed but generally disappointing results. But I was willing to try another.
The first thing I noticed about the Gentle Eczema balm was the packaging. I love it. I know that style may not be the most important factor when picking a product to treat a skin condition but this stuff is stylish!
The next thing I noticed (and liked) about SkinFix is the texture and thickness of the balm. It’s nice and thick which is great for application. I can actually see where I’ve put it on. But don’t worry it’s not so thick that it doesn’t absorb well.
Let’s talk about the scent for a moment. Anyone with eczema or even sensitive skin will tell you that scented products are a no-no. This balm has a “smell” but it’s not from any added fragrances. To me it smells like beeswax which is one of the all natural ingredients. I have allergies and very sensitive skin myself and have used the balm myself. In fact, after I’m done applying to my daughter I eagerly rub what ever’s left in my hand into my own skin.
So, the big question, does it work? The simple answer is yes. I wish I had taken some shots of my daughter’s arms (where she tends to have the worst eczema) before we started using it. But I just never thought to do that. Or maybe I just didn’t expect to see such results. But after several weeks of use her skin has shown remarkable improvement. Her skin is less dry, less bumpy and red and she is not constantly scratching like she use to. Although you can use SkinFix anytime we definitely see the best results by applying it immediately after her bath when her skin is still damp. That way the moisture is locked in.
Will I buy this product? Absolutely. A little goes a very long way so I suspect it will be a while before I need to pick up another bottle but it is one of the better, if not the best, product I’ve tried yet for my daughter’s eczema.
Here’s what I like about it:
- It’s Canadian! That’s always a bonus.
- It works. Plain and simple. It works.
- It’s made from natural ingredients.
- It’s free of a lot of ingredients that we don’t need – BPA, Soy, Fragrance, Steroids.
And SkinFix Gentle Eczema Balm was recently given the PTPA seal of approval which means a bunch of other parents, like me, love it too!
