There are just some things in life that are timeless. Like diamonds, the little black dress and black patent pumps. When it comes to moms and kids Fisher Price tops the list of timeless items (although moms love most or all of the aforementioned as well).
I have many, many fond memories of childhood and my Fisher Price toys. My little people garage, the little plastic record player and the chatter phone – just to name a few! And I admit, much like my darling daughter, I was a rambunctious kid. But my Fisher Price toys always held up to whatever abuse myself and my even rougher brothers put them through.
As a mom I am thrilled to not only share in those memories when I watch my daughter play with the same favorites I had has a kid but also to have some great gear to make life as a parent just a little but easier.

These toys have been tried & tested through the years, and year over year have been favourites of moms, not just in Canada, but World over. They have lasted through generations of kids, and continually pass not only the “Dr Alfono test”, but also the “kid test” They encourage child development and support children in achieving important milestones.
Recognize any of these favourites? I’m willing to bet you do. I know a few of mine are on the list!
One of those favourites is the SpaceSaver High Chair. We actually started out with a very cool, very expensive high chair that grandma and grandpa bought for us. It was kind of handy at first but it didn’t take long before I just found it to be in the way and taking up precious space (it’s amazing how much space a small child claims in your home). Our daughter also preferred to be right up at the table with mom and dad. So I went out and picked up the SpaceSaver High Chair.
It was a great (and affordable) investment. We just strapped it on to one of the dining room chairs and the big clunky high chair made its way to the basement (it’s still there). Besides clearing up some space and allowing our little one to sit at the table, the SpaceSaver is really handy to take a long for family suppers, etc. It’s really quick and simple to strap and unstrap and fits pretty much any kitchen or dining chair. Much easier than the make shift solutions we often encountered when taking the little one elsewhere to eat – like a car booster seat and grandpa’s belt . . .
Speaking of grandparents – grandma (like all good grandmothers) has a big box of toys she stores in her basement to bring out when the granddaughters come for a visit. One of the toys in her stash always gets my little one excited – The Laugh & Learn Love to Play Puppy.
My daughter LOVES music. She is constantly singing or dancing (or very often both). She always delights in giving puppy a hug and making him sing. At almost three she has almost outgrown the Laugh & Learn Puppy but she still always asks to play with when she visits grandma. It’s just one of those toys that you never really stop loving.
I also have a cute story to share about the Brilliant Basics Rock a Stack
Very early on our daughter showed a preference for green things. I’m not sure why, and she has since lost that preference but when she was a baby she was always drawn to green things. My favorite thing to do was when she was playing with her Rock a Stack ask her to find the green one. She would quickly remove all of the rings and pick up the green one. Of course she had no idea what I was even asking her to do and was just trying to get to her favorite but to others it looked pretty impressive!
I have to tell you, even though its not on the official favourites list another one of must haves was the Baby Bouncer.
I honestly don’t know how I would have gotten few those first few months without this chair! I had a baby that needed to be held at all times. Literally. Since she suffered with pretty bad reflux she needed to be mainly upright all the time. The “bouncy chair” as it was affectionately referred to was one of the very few places I good get away with putting her down for a bit and take a breath. I’m not sure how I would have ever done simple thinks like go to the washroom, wash my hair or even get dressed with out it! And those woodland creatures were her best friends. She told them all her problems! She has long since outgrown this chair but I just can’t bring myself to pass it on. I might say I hold on to it in case a little one comes to visit us but in reality it’s just too special to me to get rid of it!
Right now Little People are very much a favorite in our house. My little Princess absolutely adores her Disney Princess Song Palace. Her birthday is next month and the Little People Wheelies Stand ‘n Play Rampway (another from the favorourites list) I picked up is currently hiding in the garage. I can’t wait to give it to her!! I know it will quickly become another favourite for her.
